Seminar titled 'Promotion of Arabic Language and Literature in the Subcontinent' at IBU

A PhD seminar titled 'The Role of Nadwatul Ulama in the Promotion of Arabic Language and Literature in the Indian Subcontinent' was held at the initiative of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the Islamic University (IU). The seminar was held at 12 noon on Sunday (December 01) at the seminar library of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Mukhlesur Rahman.
At this time, 2017-18 PhD researcher HM Ataur Rahman presented his research paper under the supervision of Professor Dr. Tozammel Hossain of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature.
The seminar was addressed by IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Naqib Mohammad Nasrullah, Professor Dr. Abdullah of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Professor Dr. Abdul Mottalib, Professor Dr. Mostaq Mohammad Abdul Muktadir Munawar Ali, Professor Dr. A.K.M Shamsul Haque Siddiqui, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Professor Dr. Kausar Mohammad Baki Billah and others.
The speakers at the seminar said that the contribution of religious schools in the promotion and spread of the Arabic language throughout the world is undeniable, they have produced scholars, preachers, writers and thinkers who have shaped the educational curriculum in different eras of the past and at the top of their list is Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama. Lucknow, India, which has paid special attention to the Arabic language at various levels and has achieved excellence in reading, writing and teaching, because the Arabic language is not only the language of the Quran and Hadith, but it is also one of the most important world languages of the present era, although it is the language of the source of science. Legality, and divine law are mentioned.
They also said that for this reason, it reviewed the popular curriculum of the Indian subcontinent, which was far from connecting students with the knowledge of revelation and failed to develop the students' competence, as they deserved in the Arabic language and its literature, because it realized the need of the era of globalization, since it is not possible to meet the needs of the era without preparing them again, so he added new books in place of old books, including books on the history of Arabic language and its literature, Arabic literature. Pre-Islamic literature and poetry collections, however, did not become stable but changed many times according to the needs of the era. Due to its abundance over the ages, it is impossible to narrow it down to the smallest detail. In this study, the researcher explains the role of scholars in strengthening the Arabic language and the inevitability of revising the curriculum and syllabus.
