A village doctor was killed by a truck in Kurigram

A village doctor named Abdul Mateen (47) was killed when a truck ran over him in Kurigram. The accident took place on the Kurigram-Rangpur road at a place called Henijer Tal of Belgacha Union of Sadar Upazila at around 11 am on Thursday. Police Inspector (Investigation) of Kurigram Sadar Police Station ATM Shifatul Mazda confirmed this matter.
The deceased Abdul Matin is the son of Badiuzzaman of Hat village of Master of Holokhana Union of Sadar Upazila.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, around 11 am, Abdul Mateen reached the government seed warehouse at Henaiz Tal in an auto-rickshaw. A speeding truck hit him while crossing the road after getting down from the autorickshaw. Locals rescued him and took him to Kurigram General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Immediately after the incident, the driver left the place with the truck at a high speed.
Kurigram Sadar Police Inspector (Investigation) Shifatul Mazdar said, "It was not possible to arrest the truck and the driver. The victim's family said they would not press charges. The body will be handed over after the legal process.
