Acting Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Fahima bint Akhtar has seized 49 sacks of rice from TCB at Bhuyapur in Tangail as they were being stored without distribution. Without taking action against the dealer, the UNO left the seized bags of rice under the dealer's custody.
On Saturday (September 21) evening, 49 sacks of rice weighing 30 kg were seized from a TCB dealer named Rafi Chakdar from a building of Gobindasi High School in the upazila. Later the rice was kept in the custody of that dealer's assistant rice trader Siraj. TCB dealer Rafi Gobindasi is the son of Union Parishad Chairman and Union Awami League General Secretary Dulal Hossain Chakdar.
It is known that products were distributed among the card holders of Trading TCB at Gobindasi High School ground of the upazila last Saturday. In this card holders took oil, pulses but did not take rice. If the dealer is unable to sell the product according to the rules, they will inform the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and convey the unsold product to him. But the TCB dealers store the unsold rice for sale outside. Later, after getting the news of the raid, the dealer was able to remove half of the allotted rice but could not remove 49 sacks of rice. Later, acting upazila executive officer and executive magistrate Fahima bint Akhtar ordered to seize the rice and keep it in the custody of the dealer's assistant. Earlier, an intelligence agency informed UNO in charge of rice storage and sale.
Acting Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Fahima Binte Akhtar said that TCB card holders took oil and pulse but did not take rice. As a result they remain unsold. Later Khabar went there and found 49 sacks of rice. The rice has been asked to be deposited in the food warehouse.
