An Awami League leader living in France has announced a reward of Tk 2 lakh for the arrest of former railway minister and former member of parliament from Rajbari-2 constituency Jillul Hakim.Bangabandhu Parishad France General Secretary and former vice-president of France Awami League Ashraful Islam made this announcement on his personal Facebook profile on Wednesday (October 2) night. The post went viral in no time.
Ashraful Islam wrote in his post, "I don't want the news of MP-minister arrest of Rajshahi, Noakhali, Comilla, Pabna, Sylhet." If RAB, DB can arrest ex-thief and corrupt railway minister Jillul Hakim of Rajbari, they will be given a reward of Tk 2 lakh from me.
It is known that Ashraful Islam has been in exile for a long time but is vocal about the irregularities and corruption of various levels of Awami League leaders and activists in the country. He often writes about the politics of Rajbari district and the irregularities of the leaders. He also has active participation in social service activities.
Ashraful Islam said that the former MP of Rajbari-2 constituency Jillul Hakim is a corrupt person and looter of people's wealth. I have announced a reward of Tk 2 lakh to encourage law enforcement personnel to arrest him. All should forget political differences and come forward to bring this corrupt leader to justice.
It is to be noted that Ashraful Islam gave a reward of Tk 50,000 in the year 2015 for the suppression of drugs and terrorism in Rajbari district.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, three cases have been registered in Rajbari court and one in Baliakandi police station against former railway minister Jillul Hakim and his son Ashiq Mahmud Mitul and their associates. Allegations of kidnapping, torture, attempted murder and extortion have been made in these cases. However, Jillul and his son Mitul have not been arrested so far.
Jillul Hakim, who was elected five times as a Member of Parliament from 1996 to 2024, is accused of illegally owning assets. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is probing and investigating allegations of illegal wealth acquisition and money laundering of Rs.
