PS of former MP of Tangail-4 Constituency granted bail after arrest

Tangail-4 (Kalihati) Constituency's former MP Hashan Imam Khan alias Sohail Hazari's PS Shanto Islam, the main accused in the attack on the victory procession in Tangail's Kalihati Upazila (August 5), has been granted bail on the day of his arrest.
It is known that on Friday (October 25) based on a tip-off, the police arrested former Awami League MP Mohammad Hasan Imam Khan alias Sohel Hazari's PS Shanto Islam from his father-in-law's house in Kalihati Municipality's Silimpur Madhya Para area.
After the fall of the Awami League government, the police sent him to the Tangail court as the number one accused in the attack on the anti-discrimination students' joy march on August 5.
Although the court was closed, he was taken to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Monirul Islam in the afternoon and his bail was granted.
Allegedly, when the Awami League government was in power, former MP Hasan Imam Khan alias Sohail Hazari was involved in various crimes.
Although he did not hold any position in Awami League, he was known as a cadre.
There are allegations against him of leading a youth gang in Kalihati upazila, robbing a bus stand area, drug dealing and using illegal weapons.
He was known as a mercenary terrorist in the area. There are also several cases against him in various incidents.
Earlier last (August 18), Mominul Islam, the father of injured student Mehrab Islam Tarek, filed a case at Kalihati police station, making Shanto Islam the main accused.
Recently, several other accused in this case were arrested and sent to the court, but their bail was cancelled.
And despite being the main defendant in the case and the defendant in several cases, the plaintiff in the case was shocked by his bail.
In this regard, Tangail Court Sub-Inspector (SI) Khalilur Rahman said that the police sent the accused Shanto to the court. There is a judge on the closing day.
Later he was taken to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Monirul Islam.
I also opposed his bail in court on behalf of the state. Bail is for the court judge.
In this regard, Kalihati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abul Kalam Bhuiyan said that Shanto was arrested from his father-in-law's house.
A case was filed against him in connection with the attack on an anti-discrimination student rally last (August 5). He is the main accused in this case.
Apart from this, there are several cases against him, but he is on bail in all of them.
