Jagrata Banner organized a human chain to express concern over the loss of lives in road accidents in Panchagarh demanding safe roads. The human chain was held at Chowrangi intersection in the district town on Wednesday (December 10) at around 11 am. Representatives of social and cultural organizations, teachers and students and the general public participated in it.
Panchagarh District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Iqbal Hossain, Panchagarh Court GP Advocate Abdul Bari, 'Jagrata Panchagarh' convener Advocate Mehedi Hasan Milon, Panchagarh Sammilit Volunteer Organization convener Advocate Ahsan Habib Sarkar, NCP Chief Coordinator Shishir Asad and Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Coordinator Fazle Rabbi, among others, addressed the human chain moderated by journalist Abu Naeem.
The speakers said that the main reasons for the increase in accidents in Panchagarh are reckless speed, road irregularities, inexperienced and transfer drivers, unfitness of vehicles and lack of effective supervision.
It is worth noting that on December 4, an employee of the district administration was killed in a truck accident in the Karatoya Bridge area. And on December 9, a woman was crushed to death on the spot after being hit by a truck in front of the BGB battalion in the city. A laborer from Khaykhatpara died on the Tetulia-Banglabanda highway.
