Attempted robbery during smuggling, owner arrested with 181 loads of gold Photo: Illegal gold robbery attempted during smuggling of recovered gold ornaments in Jhenaidah. One person was injured in the beating of the robbers. Later the police seized the gold. The owner was detained for questioning. This incident happened on Tuesday (July 30) morning.
Eyewitnesses said Mithun, an employee of city goldsmith Patti's Guinea House, was returning to the shop with a cartoon from the courier service. On the way, when KC reached the college lane, 6 robbers tried to rob the cartoon. An SI of Jhenaidah Sadar police station reached there and rescued Mithun when the employee was beaten up and robbed.
