Metro rail services have been temporarily suspended in the capital's Karwan Bazar area after a gas balloon got stuck in an electric line. The incident occurred at around 12:50 pm on Tuesday (April 14).
It is learnt that a flying gas balloon got entangled in the high-voltage electric wire of the metro rail. This caused disruption in power transmission and metro rail services were immediately suspended for safety reasons.
An official from the MRT Police Control Room said that the incident took place in the Karwan Bazar section. As the balloon is stuck in the high-voltage line, it is necessary to work carefully to remove it, which is taking some time.
After the incident, the crowd of passengers has increased at the stations. Many people are turning to alternative vehicles due to such a sudden problem, resulting in increasing suffering across the city.
Those concerned said that metro rail services will return to normal once the work of removing the balloon is completed. However, such incidents have also highlighted the need to take more precautions in security measures in the future.
