In Comilla's Manoharganj upazila, an expatriate's wife has been accused of running away with her daughter, cash and jewellery with her lover. The incident has created a huge sensation in the area. The victim's family said that in the absence of her Saudi expatriate husband, the woman got involved with a young man from the same village.
According to the complaint, expatriate Mahbubur Rahman, son of Abul Basar of Manra village in Hasnabad union of the upazila, married Farzana Akhter of Durgapur village about six years ago. A few days after the marriage, he migrated to Saudi Arabia. In the meantime, a daughter was born to them. The family claims that Farzana developed a close relationship with a young man named Safin of the same village due to the opportunity of her husband staying abroad.
Farzana Akhter left home on May 7 with her daughter. It is alleged that while leaving, she took with her husband's 50,000 taka, 5 lakh taka withdrawn for NGO loan and about two and a half tons of gold ornaments. The expatriate's father Abul Basar has filed a written complaint with the Manoharganj Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident.
The victim's family said that even after five days of filing the complaint, it has not been possible to rescue the mother and child. Meanwhile, Mahbubur Rahman, who is in exile, has suffered a mental breakdown, his relatives said. In this regard, Maqsud Ahmed said that the incident will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.
