The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has uncovered the mystery of a sensational incident in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, on charges of selling their own children for trafficking. In this incident, two children were rescued safely and three people, including their father, were arrested. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the area.
According to PBI sources, the arrested persons are the father of the two children, Mejbah Uddin, and alleged human trafficking gang members Emdadul Haque Rabbani and Nur-e-Nasrin. Of these, Mejbah Uddin has reportedly given a statement in court.
One of the rescued children is five years old and the other is only 28 days old. They are residents of an area in Siddhirganj. According to the allegations, there had been unrest in the family for a long time due to family feuds and financial crisis.
Those involved in the investigation say that although the couple started their married life seven years ago, their relationship deteriorated over time. It is alleged that Mejbah Uddin used to create unrest in the family and would regularly pressure them for money. It is alleged that he would even threaten to sell the children if they did not get the money.
The incident began last April. According to the complaint, two children were systematically removed from their home with the help of an acquaintance. Later, the children's mother came to know through various means that an attempt was being made to sell them for the purpose of trafficking. Unable to find the children, she filed a complaint with the police station.
A special team of the PBI was involved in investigating the case. A raid was conducted in different areas of the capital using technical information and intelligence surveillance. First, the older child was rescued from an area of Savar and his father was arrested. Later, based on the information provided by him, another raid was conducted and the remaining two were arrested. The younger child was also rescued from another area of the capital in the same raid.
During the initial investigation, law enforcement agencies have learned that one of the arrested persons may be a member of an organized gang involved in child trafficking. He has also been accused of recruiting children targeting helpless and poor families through various means, including social media.
Meanwhile, the investigation has also revealed that the accused father was allegedly involved in drugs and online gambling. Serious allegations like multiple marriages and selling children for money are also being investigated against him.
The PBI said that it is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in the entire incident. The interrogation of the arrested is continuing and the scope of the investigation has also been expanded.
