Sanju is afraid of losing an eye in the conflict in the quota reform movement, the whole family is in despair

Sanju Mia (26), born in a poor family in Kholahati, Gaibandha, is spending her days in fear of losing her eyes. Md., a resident of Mia neighborhood in the union. Sanju, the eldest of Yasin Mia's three children, was the main breadwinner in the family. He was helping the family as much as possible by working in a workshop in the city to support the family. But a terrible disaster has come in his life.

On August 4, Sanju was injured while taking part in a rally during the anti-discrimination student movement in Gaibandha. During the protest, he received three rubber bullets in his left eye and a rubber bullet in his hand in a police ambush. Sanju was seriously injured and fell on the ground. The students who took part in the agitation rushed him to Gaibandha General Hospital. However, as his condition worsened, he was quickly shifted to Global Eye & Healthcare Hospital in Rangpur. After receiving treatment there for two days, Sanju was sent to Bangladesh Eye Hospital in Dhaka for better treatment.

While one rubber bullet was successfully removed from Sanju's eye at the Bangladesh Eye Hospital, the remaining two bullets were still lodged in the eye. Doctors have said that the chances of her regaining her sight are very slim. However, Sanju needs advanced medical treatment, which is impossible for this poor family to afford.

While narrating the incident of that day, the injured Sanju said, I saw that everyone around was going to the procession. That's why I couldn't stay anymore. When the procession went in front of the Gaibandha Superintendent of Police office, the police suddenly opened fire. After the shot, I realized that something had hit my eye and then I couldn't say anything. Later the students rescued me and admitted me to the hospital. Three rubber bullets hit my left eye. One rubber bullet has been removed from a hospital in Dhaka, but the other two remain. I can't see anything with my left eye and am in a lot of pain. I do not know if I can see with these eyes!

Sanju's mother Manju Rani said in a tearful voice, "My son used to work in a workshop." From there he marches. Our family lived with his income. I don't understand what will happen now. As the doctor said, there is very little chance of her eye getting better. Better treatment has some chance of improvement. But it is not possible for this poor family of ours to get better treatment.

Sanju's mother appeals to the rich and sympathetic people of the society to come forward and help Sanju's treatment and try to get rid of this menace. He further said, unless Sanju's eyesight is restored, the future will be bleak for him and my family.

Chairman of Kholahati Union Parishad of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, Masum Haqqani said over the phone, I was not aware of the matter, I came to know through you. I will definitely go to that house and inquire about the injured Sanju. Apart from the allocation from the Union Parishad, I will also try to help him personally.
