Fazle Rabbi (24), deputy relief and disaster secretary of Islami University (EB) branch Chhatra League, has been arrested. He is a 2018-19 student of Al-Fiqh and Legal Studies Department of the University.
On the night of October 26, the Uttara West Police Station conducted a special operation and arrested him from Uttara.
Officer-in-charge of Uttara West Police Station Muhammad Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter on Sunday (October 27).
The arrested Fazle Rabbi is the son of Sabuj Shikdar of Sagardi village in Ghatail upazila of Tangail district. He is the deputy relief and disaster affairs secretary of the branch Chhatra League.
According to police sources, during the student movement, Fazle took direct part in the attack on the common students of Rabbi Islami University. Since the fall of the Awami government on August 5, he was hiding in the area of Uttara Paschim police station. After getting to know about the location of Fazle Rabbi through secret information, the police conducted a raid on Road No. 7 of Sector No. 11 of Uttara on Saturday night and arrested him from house No. 39.
Confirming the matter, Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman told the media, "Fazle Rabbi was the leader of the beating of the students who participated in the student movement. Legal action will be taken after reviewing his activities in the movement."
It is known that during the anti-discrimination student movement, Fazle Rabbi made various posts on social media Facebook in favor of the movement from July 18. At that time, he was also seen giving a post to resign from the post of the branch Chhatra League. However, it was not confirmed that the resignation was submitted in writing.
