Father killed in Savar, daughter surrenders by calling 999

A young woman surrendered to the police by calling the national emergency service number 999 after hacking her father to death in Majidpur, Savar. This sensational incident took place in Majidpur Kathalbagan of Savar municipal area early on Thursday (May 8).Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station Jewel Mia confirmed the truth of the incident. The deceased has been identified as Abdus Sattar (55). He is a resident of Bhaga village of Singra police station in Natore district.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Savar Model Police Station Imran Hossain said that a woman called 999 on Thursday morning and said, "I have killed my father. I want to surrender to you. Please come and collect the body."
Police immediately reached the spot and arrested the deceased's daughter Jannat Jahan Shifa (23) from a flat in Abdul Kader's multi-storey building in Majidpur area and recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
It is learned that after his wife's death, Abdus Sattar lived with his daughter in a rented house on the 5th floor of Abdul Kader's house in Majidpur Kathalbagan, Savar.
During police interrogation, Shifa said that her father had been physically torturing her against her will for a long time. Due to this torture, she mixed 20 sleeping pills in her father's food on Wednesday night. Later, at around 4 am, she hacked her father to death with a sharp weapon.
She also said that in 2022, she had filed a rape case against her father at Singra Police Station in Natore. After the case, Abdus Sattar was released on bail after serving jail time.
Police said the statement of the detained girl is being verified and a murder case is being filed at Savar Model Police Station in this regard. The incident has created a sensation in the area.
