Jamal arrested for rape in Tentulia is not a Jamaat worker: Panchagarh District Jamaat

Jamal Uddin (36), who was arrested on charges of raping his wife in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh, is not a worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the district Jamaat has said. The leaders of the organization made this claim at a press conference organized at the Panchagarh District Jamaat office on Monday night.
District Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Maulana Delwar Hossain read out a written statement at the press conference. He said that Jamal Uddin and the woman were married through a local cleric more than a year ago. Later, their marriage was registered through an affidavit in the Panchagarh court on June 14 this year. However, since he did not provide maintenance to his wife after the marriage, his wife's grandmother filed a case on charges of rape.
She alleged that after Jamal's arrest, some online media outlets have published false news mentioning him as a Jamaat-e-Islami worker. But in reality, although Jamal Uddin became a worker of the organization on November 3, 2024, he was permanently expelled on June 22, 2025 due to character problems. Currently, he has no connection with Jamaat-e-Islam.
Delwar Hossain said, “Publishing news by calling an expelled person who is not related to the organization a Jamaat worker is fundamentally wrong and against the principles of journalism. We hope that the journalist brothers will withdraw the false news and present the real information.”
Also present at the press conference were District Jamaat Office Secretary Waliullah, Publicity Secretary Shahid Al Islam, Tentulia Upazila Jamaat Ameer Abdul Hakim, Secretary Habibur Rahman, Panchagarh City Jamaat Secretary Nasir Uddin, and others.
Local journalists from print and electronic media were present at the press conference.
