Anti-drug operation at Durgapur border, 1 injured in violence

Tension has spread over the seizure of a large amount of Indian Phensidyl in an anti-drug operation conducted by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the Phanda area of Durgapur upazila of Netrokona. Following this incident, a local man named Sulaiman has been accused of injuring a young man named Rubel Mankhin with a sharp weapon on Saturday afternoon.
According to local sources, the BGB recently seized 269 bottles of Indian Phensidyl in the Phanda area. This incident has sparked widespread discussion in the area. Sulaiman suspects that Rubel Mankhin provided information behind the BGB operation. It has been alleged that he was attacked with a sharp weapon on Saturday afternoon due to his suspicions. Rubel was rescued by locals and admitted to the hospital in a seriously injured condition. He is currently undergoing treatment.
Tension has spread in the area after the incident. Locals claim that the spread and influence of drug gangs is increasing day by day, which has terrorized the lives of ordinary people. They have demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.

Around 12:30 am on Saturday, a six-member special patrol team of Barmari BOP under 31 BGB conducted a raid in the Phanda area based on its own intelligence information. 269 bottles of Indian Phencidyl were found unattended inside Bangladesh, approximately 400 yards from border pillar 1162. The seized narcotics will later be handed over to the Narcotics Control Department.
31 BGB Commander Lt. Col. ASM Karuzzaman (PBGM) said that the anti-narcotics operation in the border area will continue with greater vigor in the future and strict action will be taken against the drug gangs.
Aware members of the community have demanded an investigation into the incident and legal action to be taken.
