In Savar, one person was seriously injured in a stabbing attack by an opponent on charges of demanding extortion over a pledge for land purchase. A total of three people were injured in the incident. A written complaint has been filed with Savar Model Police Station on behalf of the families of the injured.
According to the complaint source, on November 1, 2025, the victim Taizuddin and his cousin Korban Ali (45) pledged a pledge for the purchase of three percent of the land located in Genda Mouza, Savar, owned by Shirin Akhter Gong. When the matter came to light, it was alleged that Ashraful Islam Arif (44), Judge Mia (50), Al Amin alias Al Amin (27), Sajib (28), Sohag (35), Rana (32), Milan (32), Sabbir (26) and 6-7 other unidentified people demanded a ransom of 2 lakh taka for the land.
When the victim refused to pay the ransom, the accused tried to shut off the gas connection of the mortgaged property and threatened the victim and his family members in various ways, the complaint states.
In continuation of this, on Monday, February 2, at around 11:30 am, Taizuddin, his cousin Qurban Ali and Sajib Hossain (23) were staying at house number B-8/15 next to the mortgaged house in Genda area, when the accused appeared there with country-made sharp weapons. They forcibly dragged Korban Ali out of the house and hacked him with a ramda, chapati, iron rod and switch gear, causing serious injuries to his head and other parts of his body.
When they tried to protect Korban Ali, Taizuddin and Sajib Hossain were also beaten up. They suffered bruises and lacerations on various parts of their bodies. When the people around them came forward due to the screams of the injured, the attackers again threatened to kill them and left the scene.
Later, the family members rescued the seriously injured Korban Ali and took him to the Savar Upazila Health Complex. The complaint further states that upon receiving this information, the accused also went to the hospital and beat and injured the victim's nephew Alif.
