Fuel oil hoarders to get maximum reward of Tk 1 lakh

Power Division Bangladesh has taken a strict stance against illegal fuel oil hoarding and smuggling. The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has announced a reward of up to Tk 1 lakh for providing information to those concerned.
In a notification on Monday (March 30), the ministry said that the informant will be given this reward if he helps the local administration catch illegal hoarders by providing accurate information.
The ministry also said that the country currently has normal fuel oil storage and supply. Therefore, there is no need to panic and buy additional fuel. Since fuels like petrol, octane and diesel are highly flammable, illegally storing them is risky and punishable by law.
In this regard, mobile courts are being run under the leadership of executive magistrates in each district and campaigns have already been intensified in various places.
The government has clearly stated that the price of fuel oil has not been increased yet. Therefore, no one should illegally hoard oil in the hope of additional profits.
The authorities claim that the import of essential fuel from the international market is continuing and there is no fear of a fuel crisis in the country.
