The formal trial has begun in the case filed in the murder of child Ramisa in the capital's Pallabi. On Monday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Prevention Tribunal framed charges against the two accused in the case and set June 2 for the next testimony.
Earlier, while being taken to court, accused Sohel Rana told reporters, "I am not the only one guilty, my wife is not at fault. It is all the fault of the dollar. I am raping, the dollar is beating."
The investigating agency had earlier submitted the charge sheet to the court. In the investigation, a charge of serious crime has been brought against the main accused and a charge of collaboration against another accused. A total of 18 people have been made witnesses in the case.
The investigation officer of the case said that the charge sheet has been submitted after the necessary investigation, evidence examination and other processes. After the court accepted the complaint, the case was sent to the tribunal for judicial proceedings.
The state's lawyer said that they will fulfill the necessary legal obligations for the speedy disposal of the case. However, the speed of the trial and the final decision are within the jurisdiction of the court.
It is worth noting that last May, the death of a child in the Pallabi area of the capital caused a huge stir. After the incident, law enforcement agencies conducted a raid and arrested the accused. They are currently in jail pending trial.
The next hearing and testimony in the case is scheduled to be held on June 2.
