Baklia police station investigating officer and inspector (investigation) Tanvir Ahmed filed the registry on Thursday. Accused Monir Hossain, who is already in jail, has been named as the sole accused in the case.
The incident allegedly took place on May 21 inside a warehouse in the Chairman Ghat area of Noor Hossain, where the child was abused. The incident sparked widespread public outrage in the local area and led to protests and clashes with the police.
The police arrested the suspect after the victim's father filed a complaint on May 22. During the investigation, the accused allegedly gave a confessional statement in the trial court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The authorities have also recorded the child's statement under the Women and Children Atrocities Act and collected DNA samples from both the victim and the accused. Medical examination, witness statements, forensic evidence and visual observations were all reviewed.
Based on the evidence collected, the police examined the primary evidence of the crime and submitted the assessment letter to the court on June 4.
The police said that the investigation was completed expeditiously considering the importance and legal interest of the case.
