Musician AR Rahman is in mourning over the death of legendary tabla player Zakir Hossain. He said that the musician's only regret is why he did not team up with the master again even though they had worked together in the past.
Expressing his grief, Rahman wrote on social media, 'Zakir Bhai was an inspiration. He had an outstanding personality. He made tabla popular worldwide. His passing is an irreparable loss for all of us.'
India received the Grammy Award thanks to Zakir. The album 'This Moment', a song by the Indian band 'Shakti', was awarded as the 'Best Global Music Album'.
Ustad Zakir Hossain was born in Mumbai in 1951. He has been awarded the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India. He started his journey with the tabla at the age of just three. He performed on stage alone at the age of seven.
