The South Korean girl group ‘Blackpink’ has decided to go on a world tour this year. The Korea Times writes that the group’s agency YG Entertainment made the announcement by releasing a teaser video. The agency said that this is going to be Blackpink’s first ever big tour. However, they have not yet announced the exact date and destination of the tour.
Previously, Lisa and Jennie toured the world on the ‘Born Pink’ tour between 2022 and 2023: During that tour, the female group performed to 1.8 million listeners in 34 cities around the world. Meanwhile, last month, ‘Blackpink’ artist Kim Jisoo announced that she would be releasing her solo album on Valentine’s Day.
The girl group Blackpink began their journey on August 8, 2016. The band’s first album, ‘Square One’, contained the songs ‘Whistle’ and ‘Boombayah’. That's when the Billboard charts began to take off. In less than a month, the album sold more than a million copies. The album topped the Billboard top charts. Then, in early 2018, Blackpink came to international attention. The song 'Kiss and Makeup', sung by the band with British artist Dua Lipa, was a hit that year.
Their first studio album, 'Born Pink', was released in 2020. In August of that year, the song 'Pink Venom' brought the group back into the spotlight. Then, in the same month, the Korean band performed at the MTV Video Awards in the United States. Their latest success was to top the UK charts. The group's five music videos have been viewed 1 billion times on YouTube. They have more than 80 million subscribers.
Behind Blackpink's worldwide fame, the diversity of the birthplaces of all the members of the group is emphasized. For example, 26-year-old Rose was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, her real name is Roseanne Chaeyoung. Although 27-year-old Jennie Kim was born in South Korea, the singer grew up in New Zealand. And the group's dancer Lisa (26) is from Thailand, her real name is Lalisa Manobal. Jisoo Kim (28) is the only member who was born and raised in South Korea.
Blackpink has won the hearts of young audiences in just a few years with its diverse singing and dancing rhythms. From Europe to Asia, the popular K-pop band has captivated audiences with its song madness. In 2022, this Korean pop band was named Time Magazine's 'Entertainer of the Year'. Blackpink fans are called 'Blink'.
