Bangladeshi popular singer, songwriter and actor Tahsan Khan has suddenly announced his retirement from music. The star, who has been performing on stage for two and a half decades, announced this surprising decision directly in front of his fans at a concert held in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday.
Standing on stage, Tahsan said, “Many places are writing that this is my last concert. Not the last concert, but the last tour. I may gradually end my musical career. This is normal. Can I continue to jump around on stage like this for the rest of my life! My daughter is growing up. If I sing on stage now—‘Dure Tumi Bhete’—what would that look like!”
Hearing his announcement, a stunned silence fell across the hall. Many fans immediately burst into tears. Nevertheless, Tahsan continued to perform songs steadfastly in his decision. The next day, Monday afternoon, he told the media, “I have taken this decision in the hope of a normal life.”
Tahsan has given numerous hit songs throughout his 25-year music career. He is currently on an Australian tour. He has impressed thousands of viewers at concerts in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. He has sung his popular songs in unison with the audience. However, it was at the Melbourne concert that he first told his fans that he was slowly moving away from music. He mentioned the concert to be held in Perth as part of his last tour.
Tahsan believes that although music has always been a place of passion for him, age, time and life priorities have made him think differently. Especially the growth of his daughter has made him take a different responsibility towards life. So now he wants to step away from social media and devote more time to his personal life.
Tahsan's career began with the band 'Black'. The band's journey began in 1998, and their first album 'Amar Prithi' was released in 2002. The songs in the album became very popular among the youth. From there, Tahsan's long musical journey began, which has brought tears to the eyes of fans by announcing his final tour today.
Tahsan's announcement has caused a storm on social media. Some wrote, "We are not ready to say goodbye to him." Others are hopeful that he may return after a few days of hiatus. However, Tahsan has made it clear to Prothom Alo that he has no plans to return to singing for now.
