Ministry of Commerce launches control room for proper management of hides

The government has taken special initiatives to ensure proper management of raw hides on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2026. A control room has been launched in this regard and it has been decided to broadcast awareness messages on all television channels of the country.
This information was given in a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Nasrin Sultana on Sunday (May 24).
The notification said that an inter-ministerial meeting was held on April 12, 2026, to review the collection, preservation and management of animal skins for sacrifice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. In that meeting, it was decided that text messages will be broadcast on television on the proper skinning of animals after sacrifice, use of adequate salt and proper preservation of raw hides.
In addition, a control room has been opened in the Ministry of Commerce to coordinate leather management activities. A number (01617-338067) has been given for communication.
The government hopes that these initiatives will reduce the wastage of skins during the Qurbani and make market management more orderly.
