Government taking initiative to recruit 1 lakh health workers: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has said that an initiative is being taken to recruit 1 lakh health workers to strengthen the country's healthcare sector.
He gave this information in the National Parliament on Tuesday (April 7) in response to a question from government party member Ikramul Bari Tipu.
The minister said that this initiative has been taken to ensure the necessary manpower in the health sector as part of the implementation of the government's election pledge. The government is working relentlessly to improve the quality of healthcare in the country and maintain the continuity of service activities.
He said that a significant number of doctors have already been recruited through various BCS. On January 22 of this year, 2,984 assistant surgeons, 279 dental surgeons were recruited through the 48th BCS and 98 assistant surgeons and 22 dental surgeons were recruited through the 44th BCS. In addition, 162 more assistant surgeons were recruited through the 27th BCS on December 18 last year.
In response to another question, the minister said that the government allocated a total of more than Tk 4,645 crore for the purchase of vaccines and related equipment during the Corona pandemic. Of this, more than Tk 4,394 crore was spent on the purchase of vaccines.
He also said that transparency has been maintained in the purchase of vaccines and equipment and no complaints have been received in this regard so far. However, the minister said that if any complaints are received in the future, it will be seriously investigated.
