Closing inactive Gmail accounts
According to Google, Gmail accounts which are inactive for more than 2 years will be closed. Many people these days create multiple Gmail accounts but don't use them anymore. And so Google has decided to close inactive Gmail accounts to reduce server storage.

Accounts that have not been used for two or more years have been decided to close. Such accounts are being notified by Google and requested to keep their accounts active. If too many accounts remain unused, Google will take appropriate action.

Log in to your Gmail account at least once, send e-mails, use Google services, watch videos on YouTube, search Google.
