South Korea has announced a new strategy in the AI technology sector. The government's initiative aims to produce 10,000 skilled AI experts every year. Mayor Seo-hoon announced these strategies at the AI conference held at the KEX Convention Center in Seoul on Tuesday.
The government has outlined seven key initiatives to strengthen the AI industry, including: talent development, infrastructure construction, investment growth, cooperation between industries, and globalization.
Meanwhile, South Korea is currently ranked as the world's second-tier AI country. This new plan by the country's government has created a sense of crisis in South Korea, as Singapore, Canada, China, Britain, and the United States are at the forefront of AI technology.
This time, there are plans to build a special 'Seoul AI Tech City' in Yangjae, southern Seoul, which will start in 2028. This city will have world-class research institutions, educational institutions, and residential areas.
As part of infrastructure development, an AI fund worth 500 billion won will be established next year, which will help increase investment in the AI sector.
