BGB-BSF Director General-level border conference in Delhi!

The 55th BGB-BSF Director General-level border conference was held in the Indian capital New Delhi. Important discussions were held on border security and increasing mutual cooperation between the two countries in this four-day conference.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam gave this information on Friday night. He said that the Bangladesh delegation was led by BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui. On the other hand, the Indian delegation was led by BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chowdhury.

At the conference, the BGB Director General expressed deep concern over the deaths of Bangladeshi citizens on the border. He demanded that the BSF Director General take effective steps to reduce the incidents of border killings to zero.

Notably, discussions were held on forming a joint inspection team of both countries regarding the construction of permanent structures and barbed wire fences within 150 yards of the border. The BGB Director General highlighted the construction of barbed wire fences at the Angarpota-Dahgram border and sought BSF's cooperation to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

In addition, discussions were held on preventing erosion of the border rivers and repairing dams. It was asked to take necessary steps to ensure the role of BSF in preventing situations such as unwanted floods in Bangladesh.

Emphasis was placed on strengthening coordinated activities between the two forces to suppress crimes such as drug, arms trafficking, smuggling, illegal infiltration and terrorist activities at the border.

Finally, it was suggested to effectively implement the 'Integrated Border Management Plan' to ensure peace, order and security at the border.

These fruitful discussions of the conference will pave the way for increasing security and cooperation in the border areas of both countries.
