US preparing for ground attack in Iran for several weeks

The United States has been preparing for a ground attack in Iran for several weeks, according to The Washington Post. This has raised fears of further escalation in the ongoing tension in the Middle East.
The report said that several thousand US troops have already been gathered in the Middle East and this possible ground operation may be carried out with them. However, it will not be like a conventional full-scale ground war, but will be conducted with special tactics.
According to relevant officials, this operation could create a new phase of the war and it may be more risky for US troops than before. According to the plan, a limited raid may be conducted with special forces and artillery units.
They warned that US troops participating in the operation may face drones, missiles and heavy shelling.
In this regard, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the job of the Defense Department is to prepare all possible plans. However, just because there is a plan does not mean that President Donald Trump has already decided to carry out a ground attack.
The report also said that Kharg Island is being considered as a possible target for the attack. Located near the Strait of Hormuz, this island exports about 90 percent of Iran's crude oil.
Multiple sources claim that the duration of this ground operation could range from a few weeks to a few months.
It is worth noting that since the conflict began on February 28, the report states that 13 US soldiers have been killed and about 300 injured.
According to analysts, if such a ground attack is implemented, it could further widen and complicate the conflict in the Middle East.
