The two helicopters collided in mid-air while battling the blaze on Sunday. A video of the accident shows one helicopter's propeller hitting the other, causing it to burst into flames and crash into a nearby ravine.

However, the second helicopter made a safe and careful emergency landing after the collision. The British pilot and another Greek fire service officer were rescued unharmed. The helicopter that crashed was the only one that lost its life.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the tragic deaths of the rescue workers in the helicopter crash. It is worth noting that large parts of Greece have been affected by extreme wildfires in recent times.
