'Prohibition' writ petition in Awami League activities

The petition filed in the High Court seeking the banning of the political activities of 11 parties including the Awami League and the annulment of the three national elections held during the Awami League period has been withdrawn.
Advocate Ahsanul Karim, the lawyer of the petitioners, gave this information on Tuesday (October 29). At this time, he also stated the probable reason for the withdrawal of the writ.
Two separate writ petitions were filed in the High Court by anti-discrimination student movement leaders Sarjis Alam, Abul Hasnat (Hasnat Abdullah) and Hasibul Islam.
While explaining the reason for withdrawing the writ, their lawyer, Advocate Ahsanul Karim, said that considering the overall welfare of the country, the petitioners may have filed two writs with ban on the political activities of 11 parties including Awami League.
Anti-discrimination student movement convener Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator Sarjis Alam and Hasibul Islam filed two writs on Monday. In one of these, directions are sought as to why the last 3 elections of Awami League (2014, 2018 and 2024) should not be declared illegal and the benefits obtained illegally should not be withdrawn.
On the other hand, a second writ has been filed asking for instructions as to why 11 parties, including Awami League, should not be barred from political activities until the judgment of this case.
The 10 parties other than the Awami League that were asked to not allow political activities are Jatiya Party (Ershad), Jatiya Party (Manju), Demokrati Dal, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Alternative Dhara Bangladesh, Tarikat Federation, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Labor Democratic. Party, Marxist-Lelinist (Barua) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh.
Before this, Awami League's fraternal organization Chhatra League was banned in a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the night of October 23. The anti-discrimination student movement and the National Citizen Committee had given the government till Thursday to demand a ban on the Chhatra League. Before this, their demands were fulfilled by the interim government.
