Anisul Haque and Salman F Rahman were remanded for 10 days in the murder case

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment advisor Salman F Rahman was brought to Dhaka court on Wednesday evening.
The court granted a 10-day remand to former Law Minister Anisul Haque and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman in the murder case filed in connection with the death of a hawker in the clash surrounding the quota reform movement.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka granted their remand after hearing the application of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB).
Former Law Minister Anisul Haque and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment advisor Salman F. Rahman were produced in the court at 6:30 this evening under tight security.
At that time pro-BNP lawyers marched in the CMM court premises in Dhaka demanding justice for Anisul Haque and Salman F Rahman. Army and BGB members took position in the court.
Two people were killed in a clash in front of Dhaka College on July 16 during the anti-discrimination student movement program. One of them is Sabuj Ali (26), a student of Dhaka College, and the other is Md. Hawker. Shah Jahan (26). Two murder cases have been registered in Newmarket police station in this incident. Anisul Haque and Salman F Rahman were arrested as the instigators of Shahjahan's murder. Dhaka Metropolitan Police informed about their arrest on Tuesday.
After Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 in the face of the student movement and left the country, her cabinet members and Awami League leaders are in hiding. There are reports that some have left the country. Among them, Anisul Haque and Salman F Rahman were arrested by the police. Later they were taken into DB custody.
Lawyer Anisul Haque was the state counsel in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case. Awami League nominated him from Brahmanbaria-4 (Akhaura and Kasba) seat in 2014 election. After he was elected as a Member of Parliament, Sheikh Hasina appointed him as Law Minister. Since then he held the position of Law Minister.
After giving two controversial speeches on the quota reform movement, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was brought forward largely inactive, Anisul Haque and former Minister of State for Information Mohammad A Arafat.
On July 20, one of the two coordinators of the quota reform movement, Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah, and co-coordinator Hasib Al Islam presented their demands to former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury and former Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat at the Rashtriya Guest House Padma in Dhaka.
