Former Minister Dipu Moni and Deputy Minister Arif Khan Joy in court

Awami League's joint general secretary and former minister in the murder case. Dipu Moni and former deputy sports minister Arif Khan Joy have been brought before the court.
They were brought to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (August 20) at 3:20 pm. They were brought to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in a police escort van. Later they were kept in the courtroom.
Earlier on Monday (August 19) night former minister Dr. Dipu Moni was arrested from Baridhara DOHS area of Gulshan in the capital by a team of DB Gulshan Division. There are cases against him in Chandpur and Dhaka. In the night, he was arrested in a murder case of Mohammadpur police station.
Former Minister of Social Welfare Dr. Dipu Moni and his elder brother Dr. JR Wadud Tipu was accused.
On Monday Dipu Moni, her husband Taufiq Nawaz and elder brother Dr. JR Wadud Tipu's bank account has been seized. At the same time, bank account transactions of their owned businesses have been suspended. The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has sent instructions to the banks and financial institutions of the country to seize the accounts.
On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested former Deputy Sports Minister Arif Khan Joy from Dhanmondi area on the same day night. He was arrested in a murder case at Mohammadpur police station.
Arif Khan Joy was elected Member of Parliament on Awami League ticket from Netrakona-2 seat in 2014. After that, the former captain of the national football team got the responsibility of Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ministry. After serving this duty for four years, he was not nominated by Awami League in the 2018 election. In the last 12th parliamentary elections, Arif Khan Joy lost as an independent without getting the boat symbol.
