Chalan Beel
— Md. Alamin Hossain
Tardash, Singra, Natore, Gurdaspur Thana,
Everyone knows the name of Chalan Beel.
In the waters of Chalan Beel, water lilies and hyacinths play,
Fishermen are busy fishing in hundreds of boats.
People go to Singra and Natore in shallow boats,
The river houses are filled with the noise of the ganchils.
The sound of ‘Pak Pak, Bag Bag’ is constantly heard,
The fight for coconuts and water goes on after Russia and the UK.
If Jasim Uddin had found this match,
The rhythm of Chalan Beel would have matched the ganchils.
