Emon and Riyad lead CU Young Columnist Forum

Ismail Hossain Emon, a student of the Department of Dramatic Arts of Chittagong University, has been elected as the president of the 2025-26 working year of the ‘Bangladesh Young Columnist Forum’ - Chittagong University branch, and Muhammad Riyad Uddin, a student of the Department of Bengali, has been elected as the general secretary.
On Tuesday, October 28, the night, the full committee of the CU branch for the new working year was announced through a press release signed by Muhammad Sajeeb Pradhan, central president of the Bangladesh Young Columnist Forum, and Md. Abdur Rahim, general secretary.
Those who have come to take charge of the newly formed full committee are: President Ismail Hossain Emon (I. H. Emon), Vice President Monem Shahriar Shaon, General Secretary Muhammad Riad Uddin, Joint General Secretary Md. Russell Hossain, Organizing Secretary Aziz Wasi, Co-Organizing Secretary Karishma Erin,
Finance Secretary Jannatul Ferdous Ikra, Office Secretary Md. Rezaul Karim, Deputy Office Secretary Sanjida Afroz, Training Secretary Nusrat Sultana, Literature and Publication Secretary Mohammad Naeem Miji, Publicity Secretary Md. Mahfuz Rahman, Information and Technology Affairs Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Shakib, Editorial Board Members Imran Nazir and Abdullah Al Naeem, Executive Members Ritu Akhter and Mohammad Abrar Ahad Rafi.
The newly nominated president previously served as the Deputy Office Secretary of the branch. The general secretary has served as the literary and publishing editor.
The new president of the CU branch, Ismail Hossain Emon, thanked everyone concerned and said, "First of all, I express my immense gratitude to Almighty Allah, who has given us freedom of thought and the power of the pen. Responsibility is a heavy burden, a test and a trust. I sincerely desire everyone's prayers and cooperation so that I can bear that heavy burden, pass the test successfully and take proper care of the trust."
The new general secretary of the Young Columnist Forum CU branch, Muhammad Riyad Uddin, thanked everyone concerned and said, "As the new general secretary of the Writers Forum of the CU branch, my goal is to turn our campus into a vibrant center of intellectual practice. Let our writing medium be a tool for social change. I want every student to be able to express their freedom of thought through free thinking and constructive criticism on campus without fear, and the Writers Forum should be their companion on this path.’
The Bangladesh Young Columnists Forum started its journey on July 23, 2018, with the theme ‘Let latent talent develop in the stream of writing’. The organization provides advice to young writers, helps them publish their writing in national newspapers, and organizes meetings, seminars, and workshops on writing. Currently, this organization is working to spread the culture of writing among students of various educational institutions, including 21 public universities, various private universities, and colleges affiliated to the National University.
It is known as the largest and most active platform among young writers in Bangladesh, and as a part of this, the Chittagong University branch is an important branch of the Bangladesh Young Columnists Forum.
