The holy Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated across the country with religious fervor with the message of sacrifice, restraint and self-purification. Devotees participate in Eid congregations in various cities and villages of the country including the capital Dhaka since early morning. The main congregations are held in mosques, Eidgahs and open fields, where the devotees stand in a row and offer prayers for the sake of Allah.
After the prayers, a sermon is delivered and special prayers are held seeking peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, nation and Muslim Ummah. As a main part of Eid, able-bodied Muslims sacrifice animals, which commemorates the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
The meat of the sacrificial animal is being distributed among relatives, neighbors and helpless people. This is spreading the message of brotherhood, compassion and harmony in the society. At the same time, family gatherings and a joyful atmosphere are going on in various areas around Eid.
Law enforcement agencies have taken special security measures around this Eid festival. In addition, local administration is working to ensure cleanliness and hygiene, so that everyone can enjoy the joy of Eid in a peaceful and safe environment.
