Ex-Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury along with her husband and children have requested information from the bank

The Central Bank's financial intelligence agency has sought the bank account information of former speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, her husband, and children. Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has sent letters in this regard to various banks and financial institutions of the country.
In the BFIU letter, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, her husband Syed Ishtiaq Hossain, their son Syed Ebtesham Rafiq and daughter Lamisa Shirin Hossain and Md. Instructions have been given to send the bank account details of Shafiul Islam.
The letter mentions the names of the parents of these five persons and in particular the names of the husband and wife, their national identity card number and date of birth. Md. Shafiul Islam's occupation is mentioned as government job and 'Proprietor of The Subhana Traders'.
Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury was last elected Member of Parliament from a seat in Rangpur. After the Awami League came to power in the 2008 election, Abdul Hamid was elected Speaker. When he was elected as the President, Shireen Sharmin was elected as Speaker on 30th April 2013. Since then he has been in this position continuously.
Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was elected Speaker again after Awami League won the election on January 7 and formed the government. Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country in the face of the student uprising. The President then dissolved Parliament and on 8 August the Interim Government was sworn in.
Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury resigned as Speaker on September 2, 27 days after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. President Md. After submission of resignation letter to Sahabuddin it was accepted. A government gazette informed that the resignation was executed on the same day.
A case has been filed against Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. A murder case was filed against Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, former commerce minister Tipu Munshi and 17 others in connection with the shooting death of gold worker Muslim Uddin in Rangpur. Tipu Munshi is in jail after being arrested in a murder case.
