Draft List of Department of Health 631 killed in anti-discrimination student movement, 19 thousand injured

631 people were killed in the anti-discrimination student movement last July-August. More than 19 thousand 200 people were injured. This information is known from the draft report prepared by the Management Information System or MIS branch of the Department of Health on Monday (September 9).
Director of MIS branch Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman said, this list has been compiled with information from public and private hospitals across the country. A copy has been sent to the Ministry. This list is being updated regularly.
It is said that the casualty information is in the list from last July 15 to August 5. According to the draft report, Dhaka Division suffered the most casualties. 477 people were killed and 11 thousand were injured in this department. 3 thousand 48 of those who went to hospital with injuries across the country were in critical condition. They require surgery. At least 535 people have been permanently disabled. At least 450 of the victims were brought dead to hospital. The remaining 181 died in hospital.
On August 15, the Ministry of Health formed a committee to list the casualties in the movement. Muhammad Humayun Kabir, former senior secretary of health care department, is the head of this committee. The list is being prepared by the MIS branch of the Department of Health under the supervision of this committee.
Muhammad Humayun Kabir said, the work of the list is still going on. During the agitation many of the dead were not brought to the hospital due to various reasons including fear of lawsuits. Due to this, the number of victims may increase.
