'Hello', 'Gee, who are you talking about?', 'An allegation of corruption has been filed against you. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating you. I can settle the matter. You meet me.' He introduced himself as Assistant Director of ACC on social media WhatsApp and asked to meet an officer of the Planning Commission. A person named Ashrafuzzaman.
On September 18, Planning Commission's implementation, monitoring and evaluation department (IMED) secretary Abul Kashem. Ashrafuzzaman called Mohiuddin's personal officer Faisal Kabir on his mobile phone. Later he started communicating with Kabir on WhatsApp.
The photo given on Ashrafuzzaman's WhatsApp number is that of ACC Gazipur District Office Deputy Director Biojidur Rahman. The photo taken in front of a placard bearing the ACC logo may suggest that the WhatsApp person in the photo is an ACC official. But Biojidur Rahman claims that it is not his number. Collecting his photos from Facebook and calling various influential and government officials, the fraudsters are known as fake ACCs.
