Babul Kazi, the youngest grandson of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, was seriously burned in a gas lighter explosion. He was admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in a critical condition at 6:45 am on Saturday.
Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the Burn Institute's emergency department, said that Babul Kazi had 74 percent burns on his body and his airway was also burned. He said, "His condition is very critical, so he was quickly admitted to the ICU."
Babul's sister Khilkhil Kazi did not pick up the phone when she tried to contact her. However, a relative, Sarwari, said, "Khilkhil Kazi is currently busy and is not in a position to talk. His brother is admitted to the ICU."
