The Railway department has introduced 17 additional shuttle coaches to facilitate devotees in Lalmonirhat on the occasion of the mahfil of popular Islamic speaker Dr. Mizanur Rahman Azhari. Assistant Road Transport Officer of the Railway Department Farukul Islam confirmed the matter on Saturday morning.
A festive atmosphere prevails among devotees in Lalmonirhat and surrounding districts around the mahfil. Devotees have been stationed in the field since night, and a large number of police, RAB and intelligence agency officials are patrolling for their security.
It is known that Azhari will deliver a statement after Zuhr prayers when he reaches Lalmonirhat. Member of the mahfil implementation committee Md. Renael Alam confirmed the introduction of new coaches by the Railway department. Besides, thousands of buses are coming to Lalmonirhat from eight districts of Rangpur division. The Lalmonirhat District Motor Owners Association has announced to stop truck traffic around the Azhari Mahfil to avoid any accidents.
About 2 lakh people reached the main field of the Mahfil on Friday night, and many spent the night in the cold night with sheets and blankets. The organizing committee estimates that at least 10 to 12 lakh people can gather for the entire Mahfil. Five fields have been prepared for this, and a large army of Ansar, police, RAB, army and volunteers of the organizers are there to ensure security.
Mahfil president Abdul Hakim said that the organizers have made all kinds of preparations for the successful organization of the Mahfil. Lalmonirhat Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam said that about 5,000 volunteers, including Ansar, police, RAB and army, are ready to ensure public safety.
