Former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das has filed a bail application in the High Court in the sedition case. When his lawyer submitted the application on Sunday, it was included in the agenda of the bench of Justice Atowar Rahman and Justice Mohammad Ali Raza as number 306. The application has been scheduled for hearing next Monday.
Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in Dhaka on November 25. When the bail application was filed the next day, the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected it and ordered him to be sent to jail. On that day, a clash occurred in the court premises. During the clash, lawyer Saiful Islam was hacked to death.
After this murder, Jamal Uddin, the father of the deceased Saiful Islam, filed a murder case on November 30, accusing 31 people. On the same day, Saiful Islam's elder brother Khan Alam filed another case against 400-500 unidentified individuals, naming 116 people, for attacking lawyers and vandalizing police vehicles. More than 70 lawyers have been named as accused in this case.
