Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah has commented that the time has come to restore the image of the Election Commission. He said this at a view-sharing meeting organized on the occasion of updating the voter list at the hall room of Nilphamari Government College on Monday (January 27) at around 10 am.
The Election Commissioner said, “I think we have gone through a bad time. Our image has been tarnished due to the bad election. However, we have a golden opportunity to restore that image. I am sure everyone will take this opportunity.”
He also said, “There are always some challenges in elections. However, in this election, we see more benefits than challenges. Currently, the political parties that are talking about fair and impartial elections have long demanded the restoration of democracy and reforms in the Election Commission. I think we should convey the message to them that we are ready to get the opportunity to implement their demands.”
The discussion meeting was organized by the Nilphamari Sadar Upazila Election Office. It was presided over by District Election Officer Mohammad Jahangir Hossain.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nairuzzaman, Nilphamari Government College Principal Md. Mahabubur Rahman Bhuiyan and Regional Election Officer Mohammad Azizul Islam also spoke at the meeting.
