40 arrested in Gazipur attack on students and public!

A joint force has launched a nationwide operation in connection with the attack on students and public in Gazipur. On the instructions of the Home Ministry, arrest operations are underway in various areas of the country, including Gazipur, as part of the operation. The Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) said that 40 Awami League leaders and activists have been arrested from Gazipur so far.
After the terrorist attack on students at AKM Mozammel Haque's house in Gazipur on Friday (February 7) night, the Home Ministry took swift action and launched the 'Operation Devil Hunt' operation. Then, the raid began on Saturday (February 8) night. The joint force has strengthened patrols at various important intersections in Gazipur and army members have set up check posts in front of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's office and are searching motorcycles and other vehicles.
Gazipur Superintendent of Police Chowdhury Jaber Sadek said that 40 Awami League leaders and activists have been arrested so far in connection with the attack on students and public.
Meanwhile, the house of the fallen autocratic minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Dakshinkhan of Dhirashram in Gazipur was vandalized on Friday night. There are allegations against local Awami League leaders and activists that they called 25-30 students and people to Mozammel Haque's house and attacked him. The injured said that they entered their house and attacked them by announcing 'robbery' on the mosque's microphone. The attackers, wearing masks and wielding sharp weapons, beat them up and fled. At least 20 people were injured in this.
The army reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured were sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital, where five of them were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition was critical.
Angry students and people, leaders and activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement protested on the streets on Saturday demanding speedy trial of those involved. They gave an ultimatum to ban the Awami League immediately and arrest the attackers.
