After the demands of quota reform in government jobs were met, the students got into a frenzy with the agitation. A section no longer wants to continue the agitation as the government has accepted the original demand. However, others want to continue the program with new demands in the changed context. Some university students have already announced to withdraw from the movement. Six coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement announced the withdrawal of the movement while in the custody of the Intelligence Division (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). However, some other leaders of the platform of the agitators are calling for the program to continue, claiming that the coordinators were forced to make such an announcement.
Meanwhile, a new platform called 'Samana Akhtar Manch' has made several demands including bringing back the education environment across the country by stating that 'partial victory has been achieved through the issuance of notification on July 23 in the face of the demands of rational movement'. However, the coordinators of the quota reform movement said that the anti-discrimination student movement has no connection or involvement with this platform. On the other hand, the coordinators of some educational institutions held a press conference and announced to withdraw from this movement. These issues have put the students in a frenzy. Many students are skeptical about the movement.
Nahid Islam, Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Abu Bakr Majumder, Asif Mahmud and Nusrat Tabassum, one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement, gave a statement on the withdrawal of their program from security custody at the DB office last Sunday evening. They also read out the statement calling off the agitation in a video message. In response, some coordinators and co-coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement posted on their Facebook timelines claiming that the statement was forced. That is why it is not acceptable. Among them were coordinator Abdul Quader, Abdul Hannan Masood, Mahin Sarkar, co-coordinator Rifat Rashid, Abdullah Salehin Ayan and others. Then on Sunday night, the agitators announced the demonstration and protest rally with a statement signed by the coordinator Abdul Quader. Accordingly, some students gathered in several places of the country on Monday.
