Charmonai Pir Alleges Jamaat’s Secret Meetings with the United States

The Amir of Islami Andolon Bangladesh and Charmonai Pir, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, has strongly criticized Jamaat-e-Islami, alleging that the party is holding secret meetings with the United States in an attempt to establish what it calls an “Insaaf-based state.” He said such efforts can never fulfill the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh and emphasized that true justice for the nation cannot be achieved by relying on foreign powers.
Charmonai Pir made these remarks on Sunday (1 February) while speaking as the chief guest at an election rally in the Hajirhat area of Kamalnagar upazila in Lakshmipur. Questioning Jamaat’s political approach, he said that if justice could not be established after running the country for 54 years under the existing system, it is unrealistic to expect that the same path would suddenly lead to an Insaaf-based state.
In his speech, he said, “A party has come forward that appears angelic on the outside, but harbors the devil within. They speak of establishing justice by holding secret meetings with the United States and India. We have seen the justice of America, we have seen the justice of India. The people of Bengal no longer want to see that kind of justice.”
He further alleged that Jamaat has itself admitted it would not govern the country according to Islamic Shariah, but rather through the existing political system. Referring to statements made by a Jamaat candidate, Charmonai Pir said, “Even their own candidate has said that Jamaat is not an Islamic party. Then on what principles and ideology do they intend to run the country?”
Charmonai Pir also criticized the political ideology under which, he claimed, thousands of mothers lost their sons, national wealth was siphoned abroad to create so-called “Begum Para,” and people were subjected to enforced disappearances and killings. He warned that attempts are being made to run the country once again under the same discredited principles and urged people to resist such politics.
Calling on voters, the Amir of Islami Andolon Bangladesh said that all those who love the country and Islam should unite and cast their votes for the Hand Fan symbol. Only then, he added, would it be possible to transform Bangladesh into a just and welfare-oriented state.
The rally was presided over by Khaled Saifullah, the Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for Lakshmipur-4. Among others present were Captain Muhammad Ibrahim, party candidate for Lakshmipur-3 and district president, district secretary Maulana Jahirul Islam, and leaders from various levels of the party.
