The movement formed with the demand for quota reform in government jobs has taken a totalitarian form after getting the fire of politics. After the situation got out of control, the government showed leniency, but the demands of the aggrieved are not limited to quota reform. The entire country has become a battlefield on the first day after the official announcement of the fall of the government. As of writing this report, it has been reported that hundreds of students, police, political workers and ordinary people have been killed across the country. Most of the dead are protestors. 13 policemen of Enayetpur police station of Sirajganj were killed in the violent attack. Apart from this, one more policeman was killed in Comilla. The leaders and activists of the ruling party are also among the dead. Thousands of people were injured. Independent Bangladesh has never seen such a day before.
The death toll increased hour by hour throughout the day. There have been attacks and clashes in the district. The whole country is like a war zone. The same situation was in the capital Dhaka. The students clashed with the leaders and workers of the government party at points. Leaders and activists of Awami League, Chhatra League and allied organizations were seen openly raising their weapons and shooting at different places. They were carrying ramada and other indigenous weapons. On the other hand, the agitators had sticks in their hands. On Saturday when Awami League announced the program, new tension spread.
Throughout the night, government supporters issued warnings to the agitators. The reflection of that was seen yesterday. At the beginning of the day, however, the students took control of Shahbagh. At that time, BCL leaders and activists retreated in the face of the agitators. But later they organized and fired from Banglamotor throughout the day. Clashes gradually spread throughout Dhaka. The supporters of the government also attacked the protesters in different parts of the country. At some places, the agitators also attacked the office of the Awami League and the party's leaders and workers. In this suffocating situation, a new three-day general holiday has been declared. An indefinite curfew has been enforced from evening. In the afternoon, a two-day program was announced by the anti-discrimination student movement. Among these, the 'March to Dhaka' program has been called today. Under this program, the agitators from all over the country have been called to come to the capital. The opposition parties have given a statement in solidarity with the 'March to Dhaka' programme.
