Government brings back 91 Bangladeshi fishermen from Indian detention camps

91 Bangladeshi fishermen detained in India have returned home through the government's diplomatic initiative. They were brought back to Bangladesh through a formal process in the international waters of the Bay of Bengal on Sunday (June 7).
A notification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has received 91 fishermen and four Bangladeshi-owned fishing boats from the Indian Coast Guard. After being stuck in India for a long time, they have been able to return to their home country.
The ministry said that the government always takes necessary diplomatic and legal steps for the repatriation of Bangladeshi citizens staying abroad. This repatriation was also completed following the existing bilateral process between the two countries.
In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh Coast Guard, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Shipping, Bangladesh Police, local administration and various related organizations have worked together to make this program successful. Thanks to this government initiative, 91 fishermen have been able to return to their families after a long wait.
