Shapla Chattar massacre: Dipu Moni, Latif Siddiqui and 11 others in tribunal

Former ministers Dipu Moni and Abdul Latif Siddiqui have been produced before the tribunal in a case of crimes against humanity in connection with the massacre that took place around a Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in the capital's Motijheel.
They were produced before the International Crimes Tribunal on Thursday (September 3). The case revolves around allegations of violence and killings that took place around a Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar on May 5, 2013.
A total of 11 people, including former ministers and political leaders, have been made accused in the case. They have been charged with crimes against humanity.
After the accused are produced before the tribunal, a hearing is scheduled to be held on various issues in the case. The progress of the case is now being widely discussed in political and legal circles.
There have been conflicting statements between various political parties and organizations regarding the Shapla Chattar incident for a long time. There has been a lot of debate in the past about the actual circumstances of the incident, the number of casualties and the determination of responsibility.
