BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the current interim government has played an effective role in the last three months after the fall of the Awami League government in the popular uprising.
He said this after paying homage at the shrine of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in Sher Bangla Nagar on Thursday (November 7). This tribute was paid on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7.
Mirza Fakhrul said, we believe that if we all support them (interim government) and if they are able to hold an election at a suitable and reasonable time, they will be able to meet the challenges facing the nation.
Commenting that BNP is struggling, Mirza Fakhrul said, "Today I have taken an oath - I will stop the hegemony with the people and keep the freedom intact, and will continue the struggle and movement."
Mentioning that Awami League had conspired to destroy BNP after coming to power, Mirza Fakhrul said that more than 700 leaders and activists have disappeared and been killed. They filed false cases in the name of more than 60 lakh people.
