The Central Chhatra League has instructed the leaders and activists to stand by the people affected by the upcoming extremely strong cyclone Remal.
In a statement signed by Central Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, this was ordered on Sunday (May 26) afternoon.
It should be noted that recently the deep low pressure in the Bay of Bengal has turned into cyclone Remal, which is likely to turn into a very strong cyclone or super cyclone. Bangladesh Meteorological Department has already issued danger signal for Mongla and Payra sea ports along with coastal areas. The cyclone is located between Kalapara in Patuakhali district of Bangladesh and Sagar Dwip in West Bengal, India. It is expected to hit the coastal areas of Bangladesh including Satkhira, Patuakhali and Barguna in late night of May 26 or early morning of May 27.
The statement also said that BCL leaders and activists have been involved in evacuating people from cyclone-prone areas to safe places, conducting awareness campaigns, miking, distributing dry and cooked food, food saline and water purification tablets, conducting post-cyclone rescue operations, and volunteering at the homes of affected people. It is directed to stand by by reforming, distributing educational materials to the students and assisting in the activities undertaken by the local administration.
